Things to check

A swimming pool attached to a holiday cottage or villa is a boon. Families find that children entertain themselves although the responsibility of their safety falls to you. Provide rubber rings, lilos and floating equipment for some great fun in the pool. It’s an opportunity for families to play together. A simple beach ball can result in hours of happy healthy family fun.

Taking a cooling relaxing swim after a day out walking, sightseeing or shopping is always very pleasant.

Indoor or Outdoor Pools?

As we know, summer weather in the UK and Ireland is not reliable. A heated outdoor pool is essential to actually be able to use it.  Always check where a pool is before booking a villa with a pool.  With some villas there may be a short walk to the villa whereas with others it will be right outside the property.  Find out what the deal is before booking and make sure that it meets your needs.  Also check if the pool is outdoor or indoor.  When booking a summer break somewhere known for good summer temperatures like Greece or Turkey you may want an outdoor pool.  If holidaying in the UK though, an outdoor pool may be less of a good bet, and you may want to find out if the outdoor pool is heated and also check what time of the year it can be used.  Particularly with the UK and Ireland, outdoor pools can often only be used during certain months of the year.

Private or Shared Pools?

You have in mind a private retreat with your group and want a pool just for your group.  Or you may be happy to book a villa on a development with a shared pool where you can socialise and meet others.  We all have our own preferences, likes and dislikes.  Check out whether the villa with a pool has a private or shared pool before booking to help ensure that you have a happy holiday.  Particularly if you are a family with children, you will usually find with a villa with a private pool that you will have more freedom to splash around and have a noisy time if you like with a private place.  Whereas with shared facilities there are more likely to be stricter rules and regulations.  Villas with private pools understandably tend to be pricier than villas with shared facilities.  This is understandable and to be expected.

If you really want to book a holiday cottage with use of a swimming pool but do not mind sharing with other guests, a holiday village with a leisure complex and pool may be the answer. Holiday villages have numerous facilities in addition to swimming pools on offer and are ideal for families with children.

Holiday villages with a swimming pool can be found in all regions of the Uk and Ireland, as well as abroad.
