Things to pack

When enjoying a stay in a holiday villa with a pool there are some essential things to pack or buy locally when you get there:

A swimming costume or swim shorts for men are essential (unless you are staying somewhere truly secluded and looking to let it all hang out!).  For ladies you may prefer to of course don a bikini.  Bikinis can be great if you want to feel the suns rays on your skin.  Remember to apply sun lotion though!

Lilos (lilos can be great fun in a pool for lazing around in the sun.  Enjoy pushing your partner around on their lilo or convince them to give you a pull round the pool instead).

Rubber rings (like lilos, rubber rings can offer hours of fun in the pool).

Inflatable crocodiles (for those people with kids what can compare to inflatable crocodiles when it comes to getting the kids excited.  Hey even adults like to have a go).

Inflatable balls (inflatable balls won’t take up too much room in your luggage and can offer hours of family fun for a game of catch in the pool).

Sun lotion (wearing protective sun cream to protect you from the suns powerful rays is ESSENTIAL.  There is nothing worse than turning lobster red and having sore, peeling skin on holiday.  Remember that although tans can look good they aren’t good for you so some people wear t-shirts in the pool on top of costumes.  Other tips include staying out of the sun during the hottest times of day, usually between 12 and 2.

Sunglasses (protect your eyes on holiday and pack or buy glasses with proper UV protection).  Brits in particular are often not used to alot of sunshine so exposing your eyes to too much direct sunlight can cause headaches and other ailments so be sensible and pose in some snazzy sunglasses.

Don’t forget on arrival as well to stock up on favourite essential treats.  Whether you adore ice cream or fruit drinks, remember to do a shop so you can enjoy your preferred beverages and snacks.  Usually with self catering you have to look after yourself and make your own drinks.  Unless of course you are arranging a butler service or a chef.  For most of us though self catering means self service.  This can be better though as at least you know what you like and can make things exactly as you want them – perfect!
